Financing Dental Implants: Costs and Medisave Subsidy

Dental implants are often seen as the gold standard for replacing missing teeth — they’re durable, natural-looking, and help preserve your jawbone. But one of the biggest concerns patients have before starting treatment is: How much will it cost? And can I use my Medisave to pay for it?

The truth is: dental implants can be a worthwhile but significant financial investment. At Maple Dental, we want you to feel confident and fully informed about your options — not surprised by hidden fees or unclear billing.

In this guide, we’ll break down:

  • The average cost of dental implants in Singapore
  • What is claimable under Medisave
  • What’s not covered
  • Other financing options if you’re not eligible for Medisave

How Much Do Dental Implants Really Cost in Singapore?

Dental implant costs can vary widely depending on the complexity of your case, the materials used, and the experience of your dentist.

Here’s a general cost breakdown for a single tooth replacement:

Procedure ComponentEstimated Cost (SGD)
Initial Consultation & X-rays$50 – $150
CBCT 3D Imaging$150 – $300
Implant Surgery$1,200 – $2,000
Crown (Tooth Replacement)$1,000 – $1,800
Abutment and Materials$200 – $400
Estimated Total$2,800 – $4,500+

Additional costs may apply if you require:

  • Bone grafting or sinus lift surgery
  • Removal of a damaged tooth before implant placement
  • Custom aesthetic crowns or zirconia materials

Can I Use My Medisave for Dental Implants?

Yes — but only part of the dental implant procedure is Medisave-claimable.

Here’s what you can claim:

  • Up to $1,120 per implant for the surgical placement of the implant
  • Additional amounts (ranging $300 – $2,500) may be claimable for bone grafting, sinus lifts, or multiple implants

What’s not Medisave-claimable:

  • Implant crown (the visible tooth replacement)
  • CBCT scans or X-rays
  • Consultation or review fees
  • Cosmetic or non-medically necessary treatments

To use Medisave, the procedure must be done at an MOH-accredited clinic. At Maple Dental, we are Medisave-accredited and will assist you through the entire claims process.

How Does the Medisave Claim Process Work?

Here’s how to tap into your Medisave for implant surgery:

  1. Confirm eligibility with the clinic team
Let our front desk staff know you want to use Medisave. We’ll assess your case and advise if your procedure qualifies.
  2. Bring your NRIC (and your family member’s NRIC if using theirs)
You can use your own Medisave or a direct family member’s (parent, spouse, or child).
  3. Complete the Medical Claims Authorisation Form (MCAF)
We’ll provide this and walk you through it step by step.
  4. Receive your Medisave Claims Statement after the procedure
This official document will show how much was deducted and from which account.

What If I Don’t Have Enough Medisave?

If your Medisave balance isn’t sufficient, or you’re not eligible to claim:

Use a family member’s Medisave
You can claim from your spouse’s, parent’s, or child’s Medisave if they provide consent and sign the MCAF.

Use dental insurance (if your policy covers implants)
Some private dental plans offer partial coverage for implants. We can help you generate a treatment letter for submission.

Pay in instalments
At Maple Dental, we work with selected major banks to offer flexible monthly instalment plans for dental implants.

Investing in Your Oral Health: Why Dental Implants Are Worth It

Dental implants may cost more upfront than dentures or bridges — but they offer long-term benefits:

  • No slipping or discomfort like removable dentures
  • Prevents bone loss in your jaw
  • Functions like a natural tooth
  • Can last decades with proper care

We often tell our patients: you’re not just paying for a replacement tooth, you’re investing in your quality of life.
